My wall sculptures seem to float in space. The optical illusion is created by securely attaching rocks to undulating grids woven from steel wire. The shapes are based on water forms and on the hills, valleys and animals that inhabit the places where I love to hike. The primary medium, river rocks, are sustainable materials that have been sculpted by nature, and provide a counterpoint to the geometric uniformity of the 3D grids. The river rocks, widely used in dry landscaping as a substitute for lawns and plants, function as a symbol of climate change in my work.
